As our offices are situated in Milan, translations are sworn at the Clerk Offices of Courts located in Italy.
On the basis of current legal provisions, sworn translations may only be provided for texts with Italian as either the source or target language.
Sworn translations are produced on the basis of the laws in force in Italy.

Sworn translations are generally carried out by mother tongue translators registered with the technical consultant Rolls of the Courts of Justice and the Italian Chamber of Industry, Craft and Agriculture (C.C.I.A.A.).

Below is a brief description of the main characteristics of our sworn and certified translation services.

Stamp duty

Sworn translations are generally requested both for private documents, such as certificates, testimonials and diplomas, and corporate ones, such as deeds, contracts and job orders, and in general in all cases in which the translator is asked to officially declare the accuracy of the translated text.

The service:
Sworn translations are issued by the Court of Justice.
The translator is asked to sign a document vouching for his/her work.

Requirements and documentation:
The translator must personally take the translation and the original document directly to the Court of Justice. The sworn declaration is then added to these documents (signed by a person registered or not with the Court Roll, as per art. 483 of the Italian penal code).
We recommend using original documents for the purpose of sworn translations as this could be required for any further certification or consular visa.

Times and methods:
at the time of presenting the document.

Sworn translations are public deeds under the competence of the office of the court's clerk.
The last page of every translation, followed by the oath, must bear the date of translation and the signature of the translator. Said date must also be stated on the oath form.
Registry dues must be paid for sworn translations:
as from 2006 a €14.62 stamp duty must be affixed every 100 lines, including the oath form.
Said 100 lines correspond to the traditional Italian protocol sheets, which included 25 lines per page.
Translations exempt from registry duties (adoptions, grants, divorce, labour and welfare documents, etc.) must bear the details of the law prescribing such exemption on the oath form.

Rules of the Milan Court of Justice for sworn translations between two foreign languages:
The Clerk Offices of the Milan Court of Justice have determined that they shall not accept sworn translations between two foreign languages.
Sworn translations must be either from or into Italian.
For example, in the event of a sworn translation from English into Chinese, the document must be translated from English into Italian and then from Italian into Chinese, and both translations must be sworn.

Postils are legalised at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Milan or elsewhere in Italy.
Legalisations are provided in accordance with the laws in force in Italy.
Visas are obtained from the Consulates and Embassies located in Milan and Rome.

We provide translations, sworn translations and legalisations from Italian into:Afrikaans, Arabic, Bulgarian, Albanian, Chinese, Czech, Korean, Croatian, Danish, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Byelorussian, Bosnian, Cambodian, Catalan, Hebrew, Estonian, Farsi, Flemish, Tagalog, Finnish, French, Japanese, Greek, Hindi, English, Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Dutch, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Swahili, Thai, German, Turkish, Ukrainian, Hungarian and Uzbeck, and vice versa (subject to the availability of our translators).
