Main languages translated
a
[FIGS, CJK, BRIC]

This section includes a description of the main languages translated by Soget.

The demand for translations into a particular language is directly influenced by market trends and, above all, by the exportation of technologies, know how and products to emerging markets.
During the '80s, the language combinations most in demand were translations from Italian and English into Arabic and Latin American Spanish. The '90s saw an increase in demand for translations into Russian.
The start of the new century has been marked, on the one hand by an increasing demand for Asian, and in particular CJK languages (acronym for Chinese, Japanese and Korean), and, on the other, by a high demand for translations into Central European and Baltic languages. Translations from and into English continue to constitute the highest volume of words translated per year, followed by French, German and Spanish. The FIGS languages (French, Italian, German and Spanish) - to use an acronym commonly used in localisation - continue to be the main languages for the translation of websites and documentation drafted in English, followed by the abovementioned CJK languages. A new acronym has already been coined for the emerging markets: BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). In addition to Chinese, an increase in demand is expected for Portuguese, Russian and Hindi.
